A Catechist Conversation: Part II

A Catechist Conversation: Part II

The Catholic Rite of Baptism calls parents “the first teachers in the ways of faith.” If mom and dad are the first teachers, perhaps the catechists in our parishes are the second. This year, our conversation with Bishop Caggiano focuses on the important role that parents play in the formation of young people. All parents are welcome to join, as are catechists from our parishes and schools. Space is limited to 450, so please register early. Light Breakfast will be served.

When: Saturday, September 8, 2018 @ 8:30am – 12:00pm Noon. (Doors open at 8:30am and the program starts at 9am.)

Where: Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Hall (35 Norfield Road, Weston, CT 06883)

Space is limited! Continue below to register!

Reimagine Faith Formation

RSVP for Lifelong Formation

In September 2017, parishes received Bishop Caggiano’s Invitation to Lifelong Formation. This document outlined steps parishes can take to reimagine formation in their parishes and move towards a more comprehensive, ongoing approach.

More than twenty parishes are currently participating in the three workshops that offer support and resources for managing this process. The second cohort of parishes began June 6th and includes another 10 parishes.

Originally, we invited only those parishes who accepted the Bishop’s invitation in full to join these workshops. Now that we have hosted a few, the feedback we are receiving is that the material covered would be helpful to all parishes, even if only a few elements of faith formation are being reimagined at this time.

Our 21st century world presents faith communities and their leaders with significant challenges, but also new possibilities for creating dynamic formation. Join us as we reimagine faith formation together.

Bishop’s Lecture Series: Jon Leonetti

You are invited to The Bishop’s Lecture Series, a new initiative of The Leadership Institute. Bishop Caggiano knows that all are called to be Missionary Disciples, so we have identified some stellar examples and invited them to share their stories. A few times each year, we will invite a powerful speaker to share a story of Encounter and Accompaniment. There is no cost but we ask that you RSVP by email or by phone. For more information, call 203-416-1670.

Formation Day for Parish/School Administrative Staff

Formation day for ministry leaders

Our day for parish ministry leaders, including parish and school staff and administration, is a day to celebrate our shared ministry and to be inspired to continue to serve effectively and joyfully.

When: Friday, October 5, 2018, from 9am to 2pm
Where: Queen Saints Hall, The Catholic Center (238 Jewett Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06606)

Formation day will feature speaker Jon Leonetti, presenting his talk: YOUR GOD IS TOO BORING

Many today are bored with God. But that’s not God’s fault. We’ve grown bored because we’ve forgotten who God is. And when we forget who He is, we forget who we are, too. But we can know God! We can know Him because He’s revealed himself to us. This talk helps us rediscover who God is. When we do that, our mission becomes clear and profound change happens in our lives.

There is no cost! To register, please email name, parish and number of people attending to, or use the registration below:

177 Project Holy Hour & Concert

What is The 177 Project?

The 177 Project is an initiative from Adoration Artists designed to help spark a renewal in parishes across the country. We are firm believers in the power of spending time in front of the Eucharist and want to encourage that through a worshipful evening that fosters community within and across parishes. Over the course of three months, more than a dozen of the most talented artists in Catholic music will split up into teams of two and visit all 177 different dioceses within the US – including those in Alaska, Hawaii, and St. Thomas.

Each evening will be centered around a Holy Hour. Upon conclusion of the Holy Hour, attendees will have the chance to enjoy a concert put on by the musicians traveling as part of the 177 Project. During the event, attendees will have opportunities for confession, to pray for others, to hear about the importance of (and even respond to) vocations, to say the rosary, to engage with local and national ministries, and to interact in a variety of other ways.

Experience The 177 Project!

The 177 Project is coming to the Diocese of Bridgeport on Friday, November 9 to the Basilica of St John the Evangelist at 279 Atlantic Street in Stamford, CT. The evening begins at 6:45pm with the recitation of the rosary, Adoration at 7pm, and the concert begins at 8:15pm. The musical artists for the evening are Dana Catherine, Fr Rob Galea, and Taylor Tripodi.

Tickets for the event are completely free and they can be found here:
